Chuck Hitt
SPRINGFIELD — Chuck Hitt of Springfield died May 12 of age-related causes. He was 82. No service is planned.
He was born June 13, 1927, in Detroit, Mich., to Newell and Thelma Kellenburger Hitt. He married Claire Julian on April 9, 1949, in Fullerton, Calif.
He held a bachelor's degree from Whittier College and his master's degree in education from Long Beach State in California. He served in the Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He worked for 33 years in the educational field in California and continued in the field in Oregon.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Robert of Springfield, James of Pacific Grove, Calif., and John of Plano, Texas; a daughter, Wendy Brown of Snohomish, Wash.; a sister, Linda Walker of San Diego; and five grandchildren.
